Title: Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry # 2)
Author: Simone Elkeles
Rating: 4.5/5
Summary:When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.
My Thoughts: In this second installment of three in the "Perfect Chemistry" YA series, our favorite struggling couple, Alejandro "Alex" Fuentes and Brittany Ellis are back and are now 20 years old and still attending college in Colorado. A minor character in the first book now takes center stage - middle brother Carlos Fuentes, being sent back to the United States from Mexico by his mother and uncle to give him a chance to escape a life of crime and gangs. Carlos makes it clear that he would rather be at home, with his familia. I enjoyed this book as much as Perfect Chemistry, however, I could not relate to Kiara. Her innocence and stuttering started to bore me towards the end of the book. I laughed throughout the majority of the story, especially when the awkwardness between Carlos and Kiara peaked. Overall, it was a good story.
