My Thoughts: I raced through.
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. And it's A.C. Gaughen's debut! The thing that struck me the most about this book was the pacing. Gaughen had me racing through to see what happened. And the writing was good too.
I just wanted to read one book.
This may be a reaction to the currently ubiquitous trilogy. But I hated the obvious set up for the sequel (or likely trilogy). Seriously, people, publishers, writers, can't ANYTHING be stand-alone any more? To be fair, this story does mostly wrap up, but I was hoping for a more conclusive conclusion. 

All is Fair in Love

The romance story here was great. The tension builds and builds and builds. I think the romance plot required some suspension of disbelief with respect to some of the misunderstandings that occurred, but I usually most willingly suspended mine. And, of course, the Robin Hood story was well done. There are prison breaks, and the mean old Sheriff of Nottingham, and a wedding, and taxes, and thieving from the rich to feed the poor. Good (and bad) times were had.
In sum, this is an innovative retelling of a beloved story that I think will appeal to a wide array of readers.

My Thoughts:The first book in the new Shadow Falls series is addicting. Kylie is a heroine with resolute courage, tenacious loyalty, and at times a fiery personality. Her journey of self-discovery, friendship, and romance is so full of honesty, it is impossible not to fall in love with her and Shadow Falls. 
After a party incident, Kylie’s cold, distant mother decides to ship her off to Shadow Falls Camp for the summer. This camp deals with troubled teens…but neither Kylie nor her mom truly realize how troubled these teens may actually be.
Kylie soon learns that Shadow Falls Camp is a refuge for troubled supernatural teens–witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, and shapeshifters. At first, Kylie denies she is anything like these “freaks” and does everything she can to make that point clear with anyone who will listen. Gradually, however, she comes to accept that she may not be all that normal. She becomes best friends with a witch and a vampire, and she has not one but two love interests. Derek is a seemingly safe fairy, and Lucas is an anything-but-safe werewolf that Kylie has encountered previously. While Kylie is dealing with new friendships and love interests, she’s also coming to terms with her own abilities and what this might mean for her future.
The ENTIRE BOOK basically describes how torn Kylie is between wanting to be normal and afrain of being a supernatural (vampire, werewolf, fae, witch, ect.). The other main conflict is Kylie being torn between two insanely hot guys (of course), Lucas and Derek.
Overall, it was a short, quick read that I would recommend to YA paranormal rommance fans!
